The Cost Of Home Care Packages
Home Care Packages have two components: the part paid as a subsidy by the government and the part paid by you. Usually, the subsidy is considerably larger than your contribution.
My Aged Care Home Care Packages and NDIS Home Care Packages are split into four subsidy levels:
- Home Care Package Level 1. A Level 1 Home Care Package is for basic care needs. The NDIS offers it to individuals who require minimal assistance with daily tasks, such as help preparing meals.
- Home Care Package Level 2. A Level 2 Home Care Package in Logan Village is for individuals requiring low-level care with slightly more complex requirements. These care plans might include additional household chores and transportation services.
- Home Care Package Level 3. A Level 3 Home Care Package is for individuals who require a higher degree of support and care, such as nursing and medication management. Allied health services, such as physiotherapy, may also be included.
- Home Care Package Level 4. A Level 4 Home Care Package is for those with the highest level of needs. The Level 4 Aged Care Package is for elderly people with complex care requirements, such as dementia or vision/hearing impairment, while the NDIS equivalent could be for people with disabilities requiring SDA accommodation.
Which subsidy you receive will depend on an independent assessment. Assessors will explore your medical history, documentation and personal circumstances to decide on suitable funding.
Once you start receiving funding, you may have to pay the fees. Most people must pay the “basic fee,” a fixed sum paid into your Home Care Package fund daily. However, you may also have to pay an income-tested fee. This payment scales with your income up to a cap.
